Spite the Conspirators (Chartruice with Gun),  xerox print, vellum, cardstock, text ;  5x7 in.

Spite the Conspirators (Chartruice with Gun) belongs to a larger series of photographs that were taken between 2018 and 2019.

That body of work brought together the stylized genre of Film Noir and the culture of sex work. Sex workers embody Noir’s femme fatale archetype through employment in a field that threatens patriarchal capitalism.

As a singular piece, Spite the Conspirators (Chartruice with Gun) speaks to the performative aspects of sex work while also confronting the real threats faced by workers who come together as a community for protection and resources. Underneath the first layer of photocopied vellum are the names of all 174 cosponsors of H.R.1865, the Allow States and Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act of 2017.
